Weathervane Playhouse is Accepting Applications for the Winter Apprenticeship for
This winter we have the following positions open:
Costumes Run Crew: The Costume apprentice will primarily volunteer during the final preparations of a production and for run crew. On top of being a part of the show backstage, The Costume apprentices will be taught basic sewing skills, trained in proper laundry techniques and costume maintenance.
Lighting & Sound Run Crew: The Lighting apprentice will primarily operate the lighting board during performances and tech week as part of the Run Crew. Other duties will include preparations of microphones for performers during tech week & performances, maintenance of microphones as necessary. This apprentice may also be asked to assist with preparations prior to tech week in the areas of lighting focus & sound equipment set up.
Backstage & Stage Management Run Crew: The backstage Run Crew member will work with the Stage Management team during rehearsals to document and manage the backstage traffic during the performances. Duties may include assisting stage management with taking notes, line notes, props tracking, scene changes, sweeping, mopping and general care for the production and safety of all participants.
Scenic & Props Run Crew: The Scenic & Props Run Crew member will be assigned ‘shop’ hours to assist the Technical Director & Properties Master in the building of the scenery & properties to be used within the production. This apprentice may also be assigned additional duties during the productions as part of the backstage crew.
Apprentices are taught professional decorum, practices and techniques during their apprenticeship. Each apprentice will report to their individual department head for hours and requirements.
Apprentices will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the Weathervane Playhouse Winter Mainstage production and a credit towards a Winter WYART class.
