Audition Materials
Having a difficult time finding audition materials for your Winter Show Series Auditions?
Need a few tips?
- Monologues should be appx 6-10lines in length (appx 1 minute when speaking)
- Monologues are best when the character is trying to get something from the person they are speaking to.
- Audition Songs- Find a song you enjoy singing, matches the style of the show you are auditioning for, and is comfortable for you to sing.
- For this audition we suggest songs from the following composers:
- Andrew Lloyd Webber, Frank Wildhorn, Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz.
- Disney Musicals (Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Aladdin, High School Musical etc),
- For this audition we suggest songs from the following composers:
- Nervous about singing auditions? It’s ok. Remember that all singing is acting but with music underneath. It’s ok if you don’t hit all the notes. Show us you can bring a character into the song.
Still need a boost in locating materials?
You can find monologues for free at a variety of places:
- Libraries
- Online Google Search: child monologues from plays, or Teen Monologues You should be able to find a large selection of free materials.
- Monologue books can be found on Amazon.com, or in bookstores like Barnes & Noble.
Where do you find Music?
You can locate sheet music online, in anthologies at bookstores & libraries, and from your school music teachers.
There are a lot of online resources most of which you pay a small fee for the download of the sheet music (appx $5) including but not limited to:
